Approaching Hanuman Jayanthi this Saturday . I will share some of the Significance of lord Hanuman within my knowledge base. At 1st i will start with the leaf which i touch almost every week The 'betel' leaf and it symbolizes truth.

Offering a betel leaf mala to Hanuman symbolizes submitting the illusions or the Maya at the higher truth - Hanuman in this case. This is very powerful especially for people under 7 1/2 (or 8) years of Saturn's influence - Sade Sati. During this period people can make false promises or can be influenced by false promises from others. This offering will help them to distinguish between the Maya (illusion) and the reality.

The gesture of offering the betel mala also helps in removing the hurdles and obstacles to achieve our endeavors in the highest way.The story goes that when Sri Hanuman conveyed the message from Sri Rama, Sita Devi garlanded Sri Hanuman with a betel vine as a token of Her joy and appreciation, as she could not find any flowers nearby. Hanuman may be worshiped with Tulasi too. "SRI RAMA JAYAM" can be written on the leave before offering and it signify more favoring to hanuman .

My wife's Valaikappu was held yesterday on 9th Dec 2012. We are told to use less energy, electricity, fuel etc. but are not shown the resources on how to, effectively, perform these tasks.
